Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings from Kolkata, the City of Undying Spirit.

We consider it an honour, to have been given the responsibility of hosting the 33rd Annual Conference of Indian Society of Organ Transplantation - ISOT 2023 Kolkata - to be held from October 05 – 08, 2023 at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata.

This conference will be of interest to all transplant clinicians (both physicians and surgeons), transplant pathologist, basic scientists, researchers and paramedical staff working in field of transplantation that represents kidney, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, intestine and composite tissue. We are working hard to disseminate and exchange knowledge and to promote scientific research in various aspects of transplantation. The conference will be a grand platform to strengthen the technical co-operation between clinicians, scientists and others involved in the field of transplantation.

It is a city steeped in a multicultural history with many monuments of note, which stand as glorious witness to their time. The multicultural boiling pot has also left behind something less tangible but something equally robust. We take pride in being home to people of all color creed and religion. You will be visiting this city at the festive season of Bengal. The entire city gets transformed for Durga Puja. Artistic imagination runs riot. The populace slows down to celebrate life.

We hope you will all participate in this for it to become a grand success. Stay safe and stay healthy!

Warm regards

Committee

Team ISOT 2023

The committee manages various logistical aspects of the conference, including registration, accommodations, transportation, and catering. This requires close coordination with vendors and suppliers, as well as effective communication with attendees to ensure that their needs and preferences are met. Finally, the committee must also devote time and attention to marketing and promoting the conference to a wider audience. This involves developing effective communication strategies, such as creating a website, sending out newsletters, and leveraging social media platforms to raise awareness and generate interest in the conference.

VICTORIA MEMORIAL

During World War II (1939-1945), as the Japanese inched closer to Calcutta, the former capital of the Empire (it had long since shifted to Delhi) became a target. At midnight on 20th December 1942, the Japanese bombed Calcutta, endangering the beloved memorial of the British. A unique attempt was made to 'hide' the Victoria Memorial, so it was covered in cow dung!...
